Do’s and Don’ts of Fantasy Football: 2017 Edition

The NFL season inches closer by the day which means fantasy football teams are being drafted. Everybody has a plan that they think will lead them to a title. Unfortunately, a lot of people seem to forget some important rules when drafting and this year is no different. Here are some Fantasy Football Do’s and Don’ts for the 2017 NFL Season
Do draft receivers on a 1-year, prove-it type deal. Terrelle Pryor Sr. and Alshon Jefferey should be targeted in all leagues. Both have QBs who are MUCH better than what they had last year. They will be highly motivated to prove they are elite and will look to cash in after monster seasons in 2017.
Don’t draft Andrew Luck. This stings because I really do like Luck. He’s going pretty late right now (round 6, pick 5), that could be considered a bargain but there’s a lot of uncertainty around Luck at the moment. If you do draft him, make sure you have a solid backup.

Do have faith in a bounce back season for Cam Newton. I think Cam bounces back this year, he should be managed better in training camp plus Kelvin Benjamin will be better in his second year back from a torn ACL. Christian McCaffrey will also take a load off of Cams shoulders.
Don’t draft Gronk in the first two rounds. Let me start this by saying I’m a Patriots fan. I love Gronkowski but your first two picks should, at the very least, be a lock for 16 games. That, unfortunately, is not the case with Gronk. 3rd or later for the big guy.
Do go with Odell Beckham Jr over Antonio Brown. OBJ is going to have a huge year. He has guys on the offense taking pressure away from him and he should see single coverage more than ever before. I’m not saying Antonio Brown is going to be bad, I’m saying Big Ben usually misses at least 2-4 games a season and AB – Big Ben = bad. I’m no math wiz but I think this is the year OBJ steps up as the top wideout in the game.

Don’t let Zeke slip past round 3. If Zeke is there in round 3, you need to jump at the opportunity to get him. Whether he misses 1, 2, 3, or 4 games, Zeke is too dynamic to slip past round 3. Draft some RBs who can get you through Zekes pending suspension and then reap the benefits for drafting the league’s leading rusher from 2016 in the 3rd round.
Do draft Martellus Bennett. If Bennett can stay healthy and play at least 12-14 games for the Packers, then he’ll be a top TE in football. He performed admirably filling in for an injured Gronk last year and he is the best TE Aaron Rodgers has ever had at his disposal. Bennett will be a top 5 Tight End this season.
Don’t draft a defense. Find the team playing the Jets every week. Boom, fantasy production. On a serious note though, it is better to play the matchups week by week instead of drafting a defense.
Do have faith in Marshawn Lynch. Lynch has one of the biggest and baddest O-lines blocking for him. Along with that, he has a gunslinger of a QB and two stud receivers taking pressure off of the run game. That box will never be loaded up because of the weapons the Raiders have. Believe in beast mode.
Don’t bet against Tom Brady. Draft him. Draft him early. Just do it. Thank me later.
