Whether you are fan of Preseason football or think that these games should be thrown out of the schedule, the fact is that these games can have a huge impact on a player’s dynasty value.  Kenny Golladay was one of last year’s preseason darlings and saw a huge up-tick in value.   Below, I will talk about 3 player who have seen their value rise or fall and why you should be buying in on these players

Royce Freeman, RB – Denver Broncos

Value: Rising: Rising

Buy or Sell: BUY

Royce Freeman has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the preseason.  In three preseason games, Freeman had 15 carries for 84 yards and 3 TDs.  On top of an impressive 5.6 yards per carry, Head Coach Vance Joseph came out and said that Freeman will start the season as the starter.  From the tape, Freeman looks like the most talented running back on the Denver Broncos.  If given the opportunity to take control of this backfield, Freeman can have a Kareem Hunt-like impact this season.  If you can still acquire Freeman for RB 15-20 prices, then go out and get him now.  Next to Barkley, Freeman is looking to have the best chance of any of the rookie RBs of putting up a top 12 season, which would do wonders for his value.

James Conner, RB – Pittsburgh Steelers

Value: Rising

Buy or Sell: BUY

I wrote about James Conner about a month or so ago when looking at fliers outside of the top 150 ADP that you should be targeting.  Well, after an impressive preseason and the Le’Veon Bell situation, Conner is gaining some more steam in the dynasty community.  Averaging a little more than 5 yards per carry and hauling in 7 receptions, Conner showed that he has the ability to compete in this league and could be productive if Bell were to miss any time, which could be a strong possibility since Bell hasn’t reported to practice, as of Tuesday, September 4th.   Regardless if Conner gets the opportunity to play this season, he should continue to gain value in the anticipation of Bell leaving.  At the very least, Connor should hold his value until 2019 Free Agency and the 2019 NFL Draft, giving owners time to sell the hype of James Conner.

Ronald Jones, RB – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Value: Falling

Buy or Sell: BUY

The preseason has not been so great for Ronald Jones.  The 2018 2nd round pick has somehow managed to average less then 1 yard per rush throughout the preseason.  Meanwhile, Payton Barber has looked like the better back, has been getting all the hype out of camp and has been named the starter for Week 1.  All of this being said, there is still a chance for Jones to be a successful fantasy player.  We have to remember that he is just a rookie!  Just a few years ago, we were talking about Devante Adams being a bust.  But after developing and getting an opportunity, Adams is now a top 20 dynasty asset.  I’m not saying Jones is going to end up being a fantasy stud, but we need to give him some time to develop and adjust to the NFL.  The Buccaneers obviously think Jones is talented based on the draft capital invested in him and will eventually give him a chance to showcase that. If you can buy Jones for late 1st or early 2nd prices, it’s a minimal investment that could eventually pay off in a major way.
